Rick Sund on Othello Hunter Transaction

As told to Ken Sugiura of the AJC:
"Basically, it just gives us some options for the roster. We've got a two-week grace period in which we can have a 12-man roster before we have to get to a 13-man roster. It allows us to be able to look at the waiver wires a little bit right now."
As it currently stands, 25% of the Hawks' roster space is allocated to backup centers. Guards and wings looking for NBA employment should send their resumes, cover letter, and highlight reel to
101 Marietta St. NW Atlanta, GA 30303.

I can only hope this means we're going to sign a backup point guard who we'll play with the intent to play defense and properly distribute the basketball when Jamal and Mike are not scoring enough to offset their defensive flaws.

Acquiring and playing a point guard whose skills tend toward the defensive area of the game would be a significant shift for this franchise. I mean, Flip Murray's mediocre on-the-ball defense is missed.

And it's not like Woodson has shown any interest in putting his best defensive lineup he currently has on the court down the stretch recently, either.

Over the Hawks' past 8 games, Jeff Teague has played a total of 37 minutes and 5 seconds. I'm reluctant to speculate just how much playing time is available for an additional PG.
