2008-09 Draft Prospects Spreadsheet

Ready for public consumption. Let me know if anything's amiss or unclear. I'll be using this as the basis to breakdown the draft class (probably by position) with a focus on those players likely available at 19 and 49.

Quick key to the stats (something I should have posted initially)

%Min = Percentage of team's minutes played

3PTA/FGA = Three-point attempts as a percentage of field goal attempts
FT Rate = (100*FTM)/FGA
"X"/100 = Points, assists, turnovers, steals, and blocks per 100 possessions the player was on the court

Just one minor quibble, Calathes signed with Panathiakos I think, and is out of the draft running.

He hasn't pulled out of the draft yet (though he could between now and the 15th) and his buyout with Panathaniaikos is just $500K as early as next summer so it's not like a team would necessarily be drafting him to hold his rights indefinitely.

Then its puzzling why he'd sign a deal with them anyways.

Didn't like where he was being slotted in the draft? Afraid he wouldn't get a first-round, guaranteed contract?

I assume it's an attempt to dictate, to some degree, who drafts him. If he can get a guarantee from a team he feels is a good fit late in the first round he'll stay in the draft. If he suspects he'll fall to a bad team at the top of the 2nd Round he can pull out.

I'm skeptical how much leverage this earns him (How desperate will an NBA team be to lock up the rights to a big, white point guard?), not to mention, if he were to pull out, next year's draft figures to be much stronger overall, though not at PG beyond John Wall.
