AJC: Smith: Hawks, Pachulia Agree To Terms

No details yet:
Free agent center Zaza Pachulia has agreed to terms with the Hawks on a long-term deal, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

Pachulia, 25, spent the last four years with the Hawks on a $16 million deal. His new deal is believed to be for the same amount of years but with a significant raise, according to one of the sources familiar with the situation.
EDIT (9:15am, 7/9/09): As mentioned in the comments, it's "estimated" to be 4 years, $19 million. A fair deal for all involved, I say.

Nice signing. I'm surprised we got him for 4.5 a year.

Adding up all the players we already had signed with Bibby and Zaza, and assuming that Mario and Solo sign their QO, and Marvin goes for about 8 million per.

We have about 64.7 million commited for next season with 2 roster spots available. Which a little over 5 million for two players before we hit the luxury tax line.

We could still sign another Big man (Anderson?), or another swing man. And we have the space to trade for another player for Childress, although it would be a squeeze.

But considering this is the Hawks, they will probably just sign 2 minimum contracts and call it an offseason.

Reportedly 4 years / 19 million. If he'd been a free agent last offseason, he wouldn't have gotten nearly so much, but last year he was among the best rebounders in the NBA, so this is looking like a bargain.

And he's only 25.

25 in Eastern European years, anyway.
