Marvin Williams' Back Is In Bad Shape

I left this out of the game recap in the interests of not contaminating the positive vibes earned by the guys able to play last night but it's important:
Word that Marvin Williams could be out for weeks with a lower back injury swept through the Hawks’ locker room like a storm before Monday’s game against New Orleans at Philips Arena.

“Man, that’s a tough pill to swallow right there,” Hawks captain and All-Star Joe Johnson said. “Every time we get over one hurdle it seems like another one pops up.”

Williams sustained the injury late in Saturday’s home win over Detroit and was held out the entire fourth quarter.

He is scheduled to see specialists this week, Hawks coach Mike Woodson said, and his status will not be updated until after those visits.

“This is a huge blow,” Woodson said before Monday’s game. “Marvin’s been such a big part of what we’re doing. So we’ll have to regroup and find ways to deal with it until we can get him back out there.”Williams is the Hawks’ fourth leading scorer this season, averaging 14.0 points, a career-high 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists while starting in all 59 games he’s played.
Joe Johnson, unprompted, brought up the possibility of Williams being out for the season:
"If he’s out for the rest of the season we can’t worry about that. We have to move forward with what we’ve got. Injuries are a part of the game, they happen. And unfortunately it’s a tough loss for us, but we have to be strong and be strong for Marvin as well. And everybody will have to step their play up."
I need to see if I can update my submission for the True Hoop injury report.

That would be a tough loss to deal with if he's out for an extended period of time. It's difficult to point to any one area (perimeter defense aside) and say that we'll be much worse at that with him out, but there are so many different areas that he contributes on a nightly basis that his absence will definately be felt.
