Sergiy Gladyr Update

Pape Sy's D-League assignment is drawing deserved attention but let us not forget another foreign Hawks prospect, one who looked just as overmatched in Summer League, but has the benefit of being 18 months younger than Sy, while playing more and at a higher level in Europe than Sy did: Sergiy Gladyr.

Gladyr is in his second year playing for Bàsquet Manresa in the Spanish first division. The team finished 12th in the 18-team league last season and is currently 15th through 14 rounds of the 2010-11 season.

Gladyr is fifth on the team in minutes played and fourth in scoring this season despite shooting quite poorly.

Gladyr's stats last season and this:

NamePts/362PTFG%3PTFG%eFG%TS%
2009-1017.45533.151.155.9
2010-1113.538.130.645.747.1

Despite rare success from beyond the arc, Gladyr has used 69.9% of his field goal attempts on three-pointers in his season-and-a-half in Liga ACB. He's also averages just under 2.4 rebounds, one assist and 1.25 turnovers per game during his time in the league.

None of these are encouraging numbers for Hawks fans but, far more than Pape Sy, 21-year-old Sergiy Gladyr has time on his side.
