ESPN.com: Atlanta Hawks Season Preview

The 5-on-5 season previews turn to the Southeast Division this week. Discussion of the Hawks leads things off and, for anyone needing a 60-second summation of the Hawks with a reference to the pending change in ownership shoehorned in at the last minute, there's a video that I produced in my kitchen. Fair warning and all that.

Some of those other respondents... ugh. Three out of five say the Hawks should re-sign Jamal Crawford? It's unclear to me whether they watch the games OR read the stats. Or whether they understand that, with Larry Drew in charge, their affirmative answer to that question is inherently at odds with their (unanimous) belief that Jeff Teague should get more run at point guard.

Adam --

I could muster some excitement and genuine belief in the possibility of improvement with a Teague/Hinrich/Johnson/unnamed 2-guard who can defend signed for the minimum backcourt rotation.

Bret,
Can you please explain in more the detail the "demographic and logistical barriers to filling Philips Arena on a regular basis" that you mentioned in the ESPN Hawks preview?

Short version: The population growth of the city has been concentrated north of the city rather than in-town and there are genuine work, family, transportation, timimg issues that complicate attending 7pm weeknight games. I'm curious to see if the 7:30pm tip-offs have any positive impact on attendance. Of course, the lockout could far overwhelm any gains made in that area.
